Sculputure Tales / duck decoys

  • A very, very exciting week...a cameo of the colours of Autumn in Australia

This week I hang up my tongs and fold up my apron for the Winter months ... my easel is in prime position and my brushes in action... the restaurant is now a studio once again ....
of course, functions and group booking will be welcome!
Already my morning thoughts are visuals of what will come.

My walks in the bush and my time in the garden during this spectacular Autumn ... that is gently fading into Winter ... are moments to capture ideas for future works and here are some that I have encountered in the last few days ... there are a few pics ... I did say ... visual!

... and for a grande finale ... nothing beats a misty Autumn dawn in the Australian countryside ...
  • When everything changes in life ... there is always one constant ... painting

How often can our worlds be turned upside down within a nanosecond
    ... for me ...
painting is the strength that carries me forward
  • ... and at last!!!!!

  • A thought ....

"You must have a room, or a certain hour of the day or so where you do not know what was in the morning paper.  A place where you can simplify experience and bring forth what you are, and what you might be.  At first you may find nothing's happening.  But if you have a sacred place and use it, take advantage of it, something will happen." -- Joseph Campbell

  • The art of food ...

As inspiring as painting is food ... and as much a part of every day life to be celebrated as it is something that we share so closely with those that are part of our lives and those that are close to our hearts ... another of my passions and much of my time is spent creating food that not only tastes great with little hidden surprises of flavour but is visually pleasing and exciting.

It is not that different from creating with paint ... with painting it is just a different palette that I use.

Food is so similar ... combing each different element until it has that sense of balance where each flavour harmonises ... becomes one ... as with painting ... enough of each colour to create the overall ...beginning with an empty space, an empty canvas ... culminating in a work of art that stands on it's own.

The colours and patterns of food are another source of beauty and one that is so important when eating ... we eat with our eyes first .. we appreciate a painting with our eyes first!
